Airtel Down’ Trends as Users Across India Report Major Network Outage

Bharti Airtel, one of India’s largest telecom operators, faced a widespread network outage on Monday, leaving thousands of users without connectivity. The issue was reported from several parts of the country, including Bengaluru, Delhi, Hyderabad, and Chennai.

Outage Reports Spike

According to outage tracker DownDetector, complaints began around 11:00 AM and peaked at 12:11 PM, with over 6,800 reports logged. Around 52% of users said their phones displayed a “No Signal” message, while 31% reported mobile internet failures.

Users Vent on Social Media

The hashtag #AirtelDown quickly became one of the top trends on X (formerly Twitter), with frustrated customers sharing complaints — and memes.

• “Anyone else in Bangalore experiencing an Airtel network outage? Calls aren’t going through, and data isn’t working,” one user wrote.

The outage wasn’t limited to Karnataka. Reports also surfaced from Delhi, Hyderabad, and Chennai, highlighting the scale of the disruption.

Memes and Frustration

Some users took the downtime lightly, flooding social media with jokes. One Delhi resident wrote:

“Airtel down in Delhi? For the last 1 hour, my wife thinks I’m ignoring her calls. Thanks @airtelindia for turning a network issue into a marriage issue.”

Others expressed deeper frustration. On Reddit, a user posted:

“Unable to make any calls and no mobile data. Shows as not registered.”

Another Bengaluru resident added:

“Whole internet, broadband, and mobile services are down without warning. The worst part is Airtel isn’t taking complaints on their app or IVRS, and there’s no response on X either.”

Impact on Daily Life

The disruption hampered basic communication, online transactions, and app-based services like cab bookings. Many users said they were unable to complete work calls or send urgent messages.

At the time of writing, Airtel had not released an official statement regarding the cause of the outage.
